I don't have an issue mixing and matching so long as it's not going to create a bigger issue than needed.

So what the metal is one ga thinner, you know cars todays have quarters made out of 22ga hell Nission has 24ga!!

This allows the pressings to be more crisp. The guy who started AMD is also the same guy that originally started Goodmark so many of the parts come from the same suppliers. They are DOT approved so there is that. Remember, when you cut off the old sheet metal it seems thicker than it really is due to paint and other coatings.
